Bring the excitement of the World Cup into your classroom — for just £50 + VAT!

The World Cup is one of the biggest global events — and a brilliant opportunity to capture children’s imagination in school.

But creating something meaningful around it can take time.

This live online workshop gives your pupils a fun, structured way to celebrate the World Cup through creativity, performance and writing — all delivered live on the morning of the tournament.

For just £50 + VAT (per 2 Zoom connections), your class can take part in a high-energy football poetry experience, led by a widely published children’s poet.

🎤 What Your Pupils Will Experience

During this interactive 60-minute session, children will:

✔ Watch an exciting, football-themed poetry performance
✔ Explore rhythm, rhyme and powerful sporting language
✔ Be guided step-by-step to write their own football poem
✔ Perform and celebrate their ideas
✔ Build confidence in writing, speaking and creativity

The workshop is ideal for Years 2–6 and works brilliantly with whole classes or year groups.

Children love the football theme — and teachers love how focused, structured and engaging the session is.

🏆 Why Schools Choose This Workshop

• A memorable way to celebrate the World Cup in school
• Live, interactive and easy to deliver across classes
• Led by a poet published by Scholastic, Oxford University Press and Bloomsbury
• Combines creativity with literacy outcomes
• Encourages reluctant writers through a familiar, exciting theme

Many schools find that even less confident writers engage fully when writing is linked to something they already love — like football.

Watch me deliver a poetry workshop to the wonderful children and teachers at GEMS Metropole International School Dubai!

As well as visiting in person I am now extremely busy delivering my poetry workshops and performances to schools all over the world ONLINE. Very recently I have worked with schools in the UK, Dubai, Abu Dhabi UAE and Hangzhou, China to guide children through the fun and exciting process of writing, editing and performing their own unique poem.

I thought that working online wouldn’t suit my poetry and my style of working but I was totally WRONG, children love engaging with my work in this format and the results so far have been fantastic. To date I have used Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom and I’ve found that this technology is a great way of organising secure, professional and FUN sessions with schools.

Costing significantly less than a live visit from me, my online workshops are especially suitable for schools abroad and small schools anywhere on a tight budget.

The best way to work with me is in person but a close second best is ONLINE!

Reviews

“MTS students from Years 3-6 had the opportunity to work with a famous children’s poet Ian Bland, all the way from the UK! The live poetry workshop was such a fantastic experience as the children planned and wrote their own kenning poems with help of our professional poet Mr. Ian. All of the children performed their pieces at the end of the workshop and certainly wowed Mr. Ian with their poetry writing skills and MTS enthusiasm to learn! There was even time for a Q&A with Mr. Ian to find out about what inspired him to become a poet. MTS definitely has some budding poets on the way! A huge thank you to Mr. Ian Bland for joining our school, we really enjoyed the experience and learnt so much!”
Dania Kabbani - GEMS Metropole International School, Dubai UAE

We feel very privileged to have been able to tap into your expertise today and shall look forward to working with you in the future.”
Phil Yates (Head of Primary) - Al Rabeeh International School, Abu Dhabi UAE

“Year 5 had an amazing time today being part of your poetry workshop. The session was very inspiring, and the children were incredibly happy to learn all about poetry and produced some fantastic poems. Year 5 have been very inspired and really enjoyed able to write and perform their own poems in just one session! Thank you, Ian.”
