Celebrate National Poetry Day 2026 with a LIVE Online Poetry Workshop!

Price range: £50.00 through £300.00

Join me Ian Bland for a fun, high-energy 90-minute online poetry workshop designed especially for primary schools to celebrate National Poetry Day 2026.

On Thursday 1st October at 9.30am, your pupils will become part of a huge national literacy event as schools from across the UK come together for an unforgettable morning of poetry, creativity and performance.

This isn’t a passive Zoom session — it’s a lively, interactive workshop packed with laughter, imagination and audience participation from start to finish.

Children will enjoy performances of Ian’s most popular funny poems before being guided step-by-step to create and perform their own original poem during the session.

Why schools love these workshops

Makes poetry exciting and accessible
Even children who normally say “I don’t like writing” quickly become engaged and eager to join in.

Perfect for reluctant readers and writers
Ian’s playful, humorous approach removes the fear around poetry and helps children discover that writing can be fun.

Builds confidence and oracy skills
Children are encouraged to share ideas, perform aloud and celebrate their own creative voice.

Improves writing skills naturally
Pupils develop vocabulary, rhythm, rhyme, imagery and performance techniques without it feeling like “work”.

Creates a shared whole-school experience
Bring multiple classes together and let your pupils feel part of something special happening nationwide.

National Poetry Day is the perfect opportunity to inspire a love of language, spark creativity and give children the confidence to express themselves.

Whether your pupils are confident performers or hesitant writers, this workshop will leave them feeling proud, energised and excited about poetry.

With over 1,000 primary schools already trusting Ian Bland’s workshops, you can be confident your children are in safe hands.

Watch me deliver a poetry workshop to the wonderful children and teachers at GEMS Metropole International School Dubai!

As well as visiting in person I am now extremely busy delivering my poetry workshops and performances to schools all over the world ONLINE. Very recently I have worked with schools in the UK, Dubai, Abu Dhabi UAE and Hangzhou, China to guide children through the fun and exciting process of writing, editing and performing their own unique poem.

I thought that working online wouldn’t suit my poetry and my style of working but I was totally WRONG, children love engaging with my work in this format and the results so far have been fantastic. To date I have used Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom and I’ve found that this technology is a great way of organising secure, professional and FUN sessions with schools.

Costing significantly less than a live visit from me, my online workshops are especially suitable for schools abroad and small schools anywhere on a tight budget.

The best way to work with me is in person but a close second best is ONLINE!

Reviews

“MTS students from Years 3-6 had the opportunity to work with a famous children’s poet Ian Bland, all the way from the UK! The live poetry workshop was such a fantastic experience as the children planned and wrote their own kenning poems with help of our professional poet Mr. Ian. All of the children performed their pieces at the end of the workshop and certainly wowed Mr. Ian with their poetry writing skills and MTS enthusiasm to learn! There was even time for a Q&A with Mr. Ian to find out about what inspired him to become a poet. MTS definitely has some budding poets on the way! A huge thank you to Mr. Ian Bland for joining our school, we really enjoyed the experience and learnt so much!”
Dania Kabbani - GEMS Metropole International School, Dubai UAE

“Year 5 had an amazing time today being part of your poetry workshop. The session was very inspiring, and the children were incredibly happy to learn all about poetry and produced some fantastic poems. Year 5 have been very inspired and really enjoyed able to write and perform their own poems in just one session! Thank you, Ian.”
